The Creative and Performing Arts Department continues to flourish in 2025, with our talented and hardworking students achieving outstanding success throughout Semester 1.

There is so much for our community to celebrate and be proud of. Our senior musicians from Year 11 and 12, in collaboration with our Greek dancers led by Mrs Englezos, delivered a standout performance at the National Schools Event competition in Perth. Their dynamic Greek medley performed with a live ensemble, captivated the entire audience, with an encore performance requested at All Saints Day for the entire community to enjoy.

This week, our students are preparing for the Secondary Performing Arts Festival. This event not only showcases their talents but also supports a meaningful cause, with all proceeds going towards our St Nicholas Mission.

At the Primary campus, creativity is equally thriving. On Tuesday 17 June, the Primary Concert Band performed at the Band Together Festival held at the Parramatta Riverside Theatre. Their performance was enthusiastically received, particularly by the Primary Training Band, who attended as audience members. The event provided a valuable opportunity for both ensembles to share their love of music and connect with other school groups.

Students in Years 5 and 6 have also been diligently rehearsing choreography for their upcoming performance, A Tribute to Broadway, as part of the IPSHA Performing Arts Festival. Alongside selected band members and the Primary Choir, these students have embraced their repertoire with enthusiasm, eagerly preparing for their showcase at the Sydney Town Hall on Tuesday 9 September.

In Visual Arts, Year 10 students have engaged deeply with portraiture through their study of the prestigious Archibald Prize—one of Australia’s most esteemed art competitions. As part of their learning, students created original portraits in a project titled The ASG Archies, inspired by the Archibald.

Each student selected a teacher as their subject, aiming to capture the essence of their personality, values, fashion style, or passion for teaching. The resulting artworks were thoughtful, vibrant, and deeply personal representations of our school community.

The project culminated in a student-curated exhibition, which was open to the entire ASG community. Attendees were invited to vote for their favourite piece, with over 150 votes cast on the night. The event was a resounding success and a true celebration of student creativity.
