Primary Report – March 2026
It has been a joy to see our Primary School so full of energy, connection and pride over the past few weeks. As I continue to get to know our students and families, I am constantly reminded of what makes this community so special – the way our students support one another, embrace new experiences and take genuine pride in who they are.
A strong sense of belonging sits at the heart of everything we do in Primary and we want every child to feel valued, confident and encouraged to participate fully in school life. It has been wonderful to see this come to life in so many ways recently.
I am pleased to share some of the highlights from the past few weeks, along with a few important reminders for the term ahead.
Harmony Day – “Everyone Belongs”
Harmony Day celebrations were kicked off by a chance to wear orange, a jersey, or cultural dress representing a student’s cultural heritage. It was a beautiful reminder of the importance of inclusivity and respect within our community. We are proud to share that the school raised over $400 in support of our Mother Maria of Paris initiative.
A warm thank you to all parents and students for your generosity and support. Your willingness to get behind this meaningful initiative truly reflects our shared values as a school. Students also made thoughtful pledges about how they would honour the theme “Everyone Belongs.” These pledges have been displayed in the Primary playground, creating a bright and inspiring celebration of belonging and unity.
World Maths Day – fun through challenge
World Maths Day brought an energetic buzz to the school as students participated in a range of exciting mathematical challenges. The Pi Recital Challenge and Rubik’s Cube Challenge were favourites, drawing enthusiastic participation from across the grades.
It was wonderful to see so many students stepping out of their comfort zones, encouraging their peers, and celebrating the joy of problem solving. Their engagement and perseverance were truly commendable.
Commendation for Outstanding Manners
In addition to their academic and community contributions, our students have been shining in their daily interactions. Staff has noticed (and deeply appreciated!) students:
- Opening doors for teachers and classmates
- Greeting staff politely and appropriately
- Demonstrating respectful and considerate behaviour throughout the school.
These everyday acts of kindness make a big difference and truly reflect the values we strive to instil in all our learners.
Learning beyond the classroom
Years 2 and 4 students headed out on excursions designed to enrich their learning. Year 2 got up close and personal with animals at Calmsley Hill while Year 4 students had a great day out at the National Maritime Museum, diving deep into the wonders of ocean life and history.
Their days were filled with exploration, hands on experiences, and plenty of excitement, with great fun was had by all!
Meanwhile, our Year 5 students recently welcomed Jenny, Education Manager from Cotton Australia, for an engaging and eye-opening incursion on natural fibres.
Upcoming events and reminders
Parent-teacher conferences
Parent-teacher conferences will be held soon on Thursday 2 April 2026.
Please note:
- All students in Years 2–6 are expected to attend in full school uniform.
- Teachers are looking forward to meeting with families to reflect on the achievements of Term 1 and set meaningful learning goals for Term 2.
- A change from the advertised schedule, Greek meetings for Years 2 upwards will be held in Greek staff room on Level 1 for Mr Panagiotou and Ms Sopoikioti in the after-school care room next door.
- No Greek language parent-teacher conferences will be held for students in Kindergarten and Year 1, you are only required to meet with your classroom teacher this term.
These conversations are an important part of strengthening the partnership between home and school, and we appreciate your support.
