PreKinder Report – March 2026

This term has been filled with rich learning experiences across our PreKinder program as children explore who they are, how they belong, and how they keep themselves safe within their communities.

Our 3 year old learners have been engaged in investigating the term topic, ‘Marvellous Me’ discovering what makes them unique and special. Through play, stories, and hands on experiences, the children have been exploring their interests, their families, and their growing independence, all helping to build a strong sense of identity and confidence.

Our 4 year olds have been learning about ‘Being and Belonging’, investigating who they are, what communities they are part of and the special relationships that support them. Through discussions, role play, and collaborative projects, the children are developing an understanding of how we connect with others and how we contribute to the world around us.

Every child across PreKinder contributed to a beautiful Belonging Artwork. Each child decorated a paddle pop stick to represent themselves capturing their individuality and personality.

These decorated sticks will be combined into a communal art installation, symbolising the diversity, difference, and beauty of every member of our PreKinder community. This project has encouraged meaningful conversations about respect, identity, and what it means to belong.

On Monday 18 March, we continued our focus of belonging and celebrated Harmony Day. This special day extended our conversations about the importance of inclusiveness, respect, and ensuring everyone feels a sense of belonging within our PreKinder community. Children enjoyed expressing themselves by wearing a pop of orange, cultural dress, or a sporting jersey to mark the occasion.

This term, the children also participated in two important safety incursions:

• Fire Safety Incursion
  Children learned the difference between good fires and bad fires, discussed fire safety procedures, and explored the role of firefighters as community helpers who support us during emergencies.
• Water Safety Incursion
  Through practical discussions, children learned how to stay safe in and around water, recognise hazards, and understand the importance of adult supervision when near water.

These experiences help deepen children’s understanding of how to keep themselves safe and the role of community helpers in keeping us protected.

Speech and Language Screening

Our 4 year old students have now completed their Speech and Language Screeners. These screeners are an important tool in identifying where additional support may be helpful in developing essential communication skills.
