PreKinder Report – February 2026

As Term 1 is well underway, our students are beginning to settle into their new environment and are learning the routines that help our days run smoothly. It has been wonderful to see their growing confidence as they become more familiar with their classroom, teachers and peers.

Building emotional regulation skills

A key focus this term is supporting children in developing emotional regulation skills. We are introducing and embedding strategies from The Zones of Regulation, helping students to recognise their feelings, understand that all emotions are valid, and learn practical strategies to manage them. By building this shared language around emotions, we are empowering children to develop self-awareness and resilience in a supportive and nurturing environment.

Friendships and relationships

Term 1 is an important time for developing new friendships. We are exploring what it means to be a good friend: how we can show kindness, take turns, listen to others, and include everyone in our play. Children are learning how to initiate friendships and build reciprocal relationships, not only with their peers but also with their teachers. These early social experiences are foundational in helping them feel safe, valued and connected.

Strengthening school-family partnerships

We value open and honest partnerships between school and families. Working collaboratively allows us to best support each child as they embark on their PreKinder experience. When we share insights, celebrate successes and address challenges together, we help guide children on their journey towards becoming the best version of themselves.

Our learning management platform, Canvas, is now live. The Weekly Reflection, which will be uploaded by the end of each week, will provide insight into your child’s class learning and experiences.
