As we conclude Term 4, we are pleased to acknowledge the significant developmental progress and rich learning experiences undertaken by our PreKinder students. This term has provided meaningful opportunities for children to demonstrate growth across cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and creative domains, aligning with best practice in early childhood education.

Throughout the term, we have continued to intentionally cultivate a growth mindset, encouraging children to engage positively with challenges, persist when tasks become complex, and view mistakes as valuable opportunities for learning. This approach has strengthened their confidence as learners and has supported the development of autonomy, resilience, and a willingness to take thoughtful risks.

Our pedagogical practices remain grounded in the Reggio Emilia Philosophy, particularly the Hundred Languages of Children, recognising each child as capable, resourceful, and inherently motivated to explore and make meaning. This framework has guided our curriculum design, ensuring children have access to multiple modes of expression including visual arts, construction, movement, music, dramatic play, language, and symbolic representation. These diverse languages enabled children to communicate their ideas, deepen understanding, and co-construct knowledge alongside peers and teachers.

The children engaged in hands-on, inquiry-based experiences that supported the development of foundational skills, building phonological and number awareness. Literacy learning was enriched through shared storytelling, intentional class discussions, symbolic play, and our PreKinder’s creation of our major class story projects. Mathematical skills were strengthened through problem-solving tasks, patterning, sequencing, and opportunities to apply mathematical thinking in meaningful contexts. These experiences fostered early concepts essential for future academic success.

A highlight of Term 4 was our Christmas topic, “Jingle All the Way,” which provided a context for thematic exploration across multiple learning areas. The children learned Christmas songs, actions, and coordinated dances, integrating music, movement, memory, and expressive arts. This work culminated in our Christmas Concert, a highly anticipated event on our annual calendar. The performance showcased the children’s confidence, collaboration, and expressive capabilities, and their enthusiastic participation reflected a strong internalisation of the Christmas spirit and a sense of belonging to our All Saints Grammar community.

As some of our PreKinder students prepare to transition to Kindergarten next year, we extend our heartfelt congratulations. We encourage them to continue approaching learning with curiosity, confidence, and perseverance, striving always to be the best version of themselves. Their progress this year has positioned them well for success in their next educational chapter.
