Careers News – March 2026

Year 12 students are well into their final school year, and all senior students are strongly urged to prepare a rigorous study timetable to help prepare detailed study notes and practice completing exam style questions. This term encompassed the first or second of three or four assessments for Year 12 students.

The library, during study periods with Years 11 and 12 students or recess and lunch for Years 7-10 students is there to help all secondary students who may require careers, learning or academic assistance.

The library and careers space aims to enhance student achievement by improving student engagement, developing effective study habits, prioritising individual learning goals and monitoring student progress in Years 11 and 12.

The library can assist students with:

  • Time management.
  • Study techniques.
  • Essay writing.
  • Preparation for exams.
  • Stress management techniques.
  • Goal setting.
  • Career choices.
  • Resume building.
  • Mock interview sessions.
  • Career transition planning.
  • Applying through UAC, TAFE and other institutions.
  • Monitoring individual student progress.
  • Supporting student learning by utilising outside agencies and their expertise.
  • Ensuring that students are provided with support in meeting their HSC responsibilities and commitments.
  • Delivering careers and study skills pastoral sessions for year 11 and 12 students.

UAC (Universities Admissions Centre)

Is the central application service for NSW students seeking undergraduate university places; on Wed, 8 April, applications open for 2027. Students are to create a free online account at uac.edu.au, select course preferences in order of interest (considering ATAR/entry requirements), pay a fee and submit by key deadlines for offer rounds. Year 12 students should also note that many universities’ early entry applications (based on school assessments, not just ATAR) typically open towards the end of Term 2.

University – General

UCAT For Entry to Medicine in Australian and New Zealand Universities

The UCAT ANZ is an entry requirement for our Australia and New Zealand Consortium universities. You are required to sit the UCAT ANZ 2026 test (between 1 July and 5 August 2026) if you are intending to apply for entry in 2027 to a relevant course or programme listed below. UCAT ANZ results cannot be carried over from one year to the next. For example, results from UCAT ANZ 2026 can only be used to apply for courses commencing in 2027.
Some pathways to medicine/dentistry/clinical sciences will not require the UCAT ANZ. For some applicants a different test may be required. You should always check the entry requirements for each course or programme using the websites of the universities to which you intend to apply before booking a test.
There are no general exemptions from the test.

Bond University Health Experience Day

18 April or 6 June
Discover what it’s like to manage the care of real patients from start to finish through Bond’s Health Experience Day. This free event is your opportunity to consult with clinical doctors, physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, biomedical and exercise scientists, and other allied health professionals, to gain a deeper understanding of the different career options available in the health sciences.
You will take on the fictional role of healthcare advisor, working with patients to consolidate all their primary and allied health practitioner’s assessments, and will provide the next steps going forward in the management of these patients. Working with the health team and individual patients, you’ll determine the optimal courses of treatment for the best outcome.

Are you an apprentice plumber or do you know of an apprentice plumber who deserves $3,000 to help kickstart their plumbing career in 2026? Applications for the 2026 Rheem Apprentice Plumber Grants open on Monday 17th February 2026 and close 11:59pm, Sunday 26th April 2026. This year there are 25 grants on offer, each valued at $3,000. Each grant includes $2,000 to go towards TAFE/RTO fees and a $1,000 tool voucher to help build your toolbox.
