Counsellors' corner - June 2025

Across the Term, we delivered four workshops focused on friendship, emotional literacy, and social connection. Each session was intentionally designed to foster self-awareness, empathy, and healthy peer relationships through discussion, movement, storytelling, and creative exercises.

Here’s a brief overview of the series:

1. What is a Friend? – Exploring the meaning of friendship and setting group values

2. How Do I Feel? – Identifying and expressing a range of emotions

3. How Can I Be a Good Friend? – Practising empathy, kindness, and inclusion

4. Friendship in Action – Role plays and reflection on real-life scenarios

In Week 7, we also facilitated a workshop using the short film “Are You Okay?”

This award-winning film explores the impact of social media, bullying, and connection, and prompted incredibly thoughtful discussions with the students around digital behaviour, checking in with friends, and staying kind in online spaces. It’s been a truly rewarding series to deliver, and the students engaged with real insight, care, and creativity. This work also lays a strong foundation for the potential parent session next Term on devices and digital safety.
