The School Crest

The School Crest and Motto are symbols of the School's ideals and provide an excellent insight into the School's Ethos, Aims and Goals.

The School Motto, ΣΤΩΜΕΝ ΚΑΛΩΣ (STOMEN KALOS, Let us Stand Well) is an invitation by the Church to all to be vigilant in the keeping of Christ's commandments. In the case of our school, vigilant in the preservation, development and passing on to future generations of the ideals symbolised by the other motifs on the Crest.

The symbol of the open book on the crest represents the values of education, learning and scholarship. The School aims to achieve excellence by encouraging its students to value and enjoy the pursuit of knowledge and to appreciate the sacrifices and the discipline, which are required for its attainment.

The Ionic Column symbolises our Hellenic Tradition. It is a reminder of its great and unique achievements in all fields of learning. The School aims to cultivate an appreciation of this cultural heritage to inspire its students to aim high.

The Southern Cross is a symbol of the Australian Nation. High on the School's list of priorities is the cultivation of the ideals of service, social responsibility and creativity together with the confidence and quality of character to serve these ideals in the Australian Community.

The letters (Alpha) and (Omega), are used in the Holy Bible as a symbol that Our Lord is the beginning and the end of all things. They are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet which also make reference to the Greek language which is a foundational aspect of our school.

At the centre of the Crest and linking these four symbols is that great symbol of the Christian Faith, the Cross, a symbol of salvation, hope and victory. It is a reflection of the central role of the Christian Faith in the life of the School Community, a reflection of the Greek Orthodox Ethos of the School and its Christian values and ideals.
